Annual Rancho Day Fiesta/Sanchez Adobe
The Sanchez Adobe Docents invite visitors to experience life in the 1840s. This family day will focus on what life was like on a rancho in Mexican California.
- Dance to early California music.
- Discover by gone trades.
- Eat real rancho food.
- Stamp leather and twine rope.
- Make corn husk dolls and candles.
- And more make-it-yourself crafts.
Debuting at the 2012 festivities was a carreta built for the Sanchez Adobe. A carreta or ox cart is a two-wheeled vehicle used to transport goods. In the 1840s, a carreta would have been useed on the Sanchez rancho to haul hides for the hide-and-tallow trade
