Pacifica Chamber of Commerce
MoJazz @ The Hall
Determined to leave an impression on the world, Mojazz has been arranging classic (and not so classic) rock, jazz, soul, and original tunes in their own style.
Their motto is “We don’t play it like the record!”.
Mojazz considers this concert to be their biggest event of the year, and saves most of their new material for this concert. So, even if you have heard this group at other venues in Pacifica, you will be hearing them play tunes you have never heard before.
The instrumental members of Mojazz will be celebrating the “Blue Note sound” from the ’50s and ’60s era Blue Note record company. They have written arrangements of both original and cover tunes once performed by Lee Morgan, Clifford Brown, and others.
Their two vocalists, Tina Schuller and Shelley Sorenson will be performing blues and soul tunes from the past. Some of their selections are pretty obscure, and it may not be possible to “Shazam” them to find out who did them originally.
In addition to the featured tunes, they will also be performing their usual offerings of socially aware music, and rearranged rock tunes. Bring your dancing shoes, you’ll probably want to make use or The Hall’s dance floor!!
