Fishing for Words: the Pacifica Pier Poetry Walk
Spend a Saturday afternoon creating poetry during Fishing for Words: the Pacifica Pier Poetry Walk, on April 14 beginning at 1:00 p.m. The community is invited to participate by “cast a few lines” by writing their own poems or lines of prose at the guidance of the pier’s stenciled directions to fishermen: two lines per person. At designated intervals, participants will be asked to walk the pier and write two lines of poetry at each stop. All ages and experience levels are welcome! At the end of the walk participants are invited to submit their pier poems for the Pacifica Pier Walk Poetry Prize. Philip Levine Prize in Poetry winner Roxanne Beth Johnston, will judge the Pier Poetry contest. This free event will also feature a crabbing demonstration, barbeque and beverages for purchase at the Chit Chat Cafe and sea shanties performed by The Seaside Singers.
