Come and enjoy an operatic evening of a breath-taking tragedy and a delectable comedy. Lucrezia\, inspired by Shakespeare's poem The Rape of Lucrece\, tells the story of a gentlewoman wronged by a lust and power driven Roman prince. This 50-minute opera gives us some spectacular music by Ottorino Respighi and it is being sung by the amazing local soprano Jill Morgan and baritone Julio Ferrari. Following a tragedy\, Ph nix Opera presents Gianni Schicchi\, a witty comedy by Italian master Giacomo Puccini. The plot is an elaboration of on an incident mentioned in Dante's Divine Comedy. This comedy has it all\, a couple of innamorati\, a man in disguise\, greedy relatives and a coveted inheritance. What could go wrong? Sung by tenor Carmello Tringali and Elizabeth Patterson. Both operas are sung in Italian with English subtitles.
