DESCRIPTION:Homeowner Alert\n\nSeal level rise- Local Coastal Program- Managed Retreat\n\n\n\nThe City of Pacifica will be holding a critical city meeting to discuss which houses along the coast will likely be protected by sea walls or other coastal armoring\, which houses could face restrictions\, and which houses could be scheduled to be condemned in the future. \n\n\n\nTo protect your property rights and make sure that your voice is heard\, it is important that you attend the meeting on SAturday\, June 23 at noon to learn about Pacifica's "Draft Adaptation Plan".\n\n\n\nIn light of projected sea level rise\, the City of Pacifica will be considering "managed retreat"\, which could involve removing resources from the coast\, including utilities and roads\, removing sea walls\, and requiring some homeowners to tear down their homes and clean their soil at their own expense. \n\n\n\nThe primary alternative to "managed retreat" is "armoring" the coast\, reinforcing sea walls\, berms\, and revetments\, "nourishing" the beach by bringing in sand from other places and dumping it on our beaches to replenish lost sand\, protecting our roads\, utilities\, and homes.
