DESCRIPTION:2013 LEFT COAST ANNUAL JUROR'S TALK\n\nJuror Lucinda Barnes of Berkeley Art Museum & Pacific Film Archive Gives Juror's Talk & Presents 2013 Left Coast Annual Exhibition Awards\n\n \n\nThe well established cornerstone of Pacifica's prolific art scene\, creates community through art by offering a juror's talk. Admission in this year's Left Coast Annual was opened up to include Oregon and Washington artists\, in addition to California.  The result was an unprecedented 846 entries\, 50 of which are on display at Sanchez until May 19\, 2013\, in an eclectic exhibition that is both inviting and diverse.\n\n \n\nPerhaps another reason for the unprecedented response to the call for entries was the popularity of juror Lucinda Barnes.  Ms. Barnes holds impressive credentials. She is Chief Curator and Director of Programs and Collections at University of California\, Berkeley Art Museum and Pacific Film Archive.  In addition\, she has held an extraordinary array of curatorial positions at such esteemed institutions as the Museum of Contemporary Art in Chicago\, the Allen Memorial Art Museum at Oberlin College\, the Newport Harbor Art Museum (now the Orange County Museum of Art)\, and the University Art Museum\, California State University\, Long Beach.\n\n \n\nMs. Barnes will speak on jurying the 800+ entries and how she arrived at the assortment of works that she did.  She will also present awards to the exhibition's winners.  Artists Lucy Traeger and Ellen Little will receive the Juror's Exhibition Award\, and artists Lisa Espenmiller\, Adrienne Heloise\, Kimberly Ann Rowe\, and Lael Seltzer will receive the Juror's Award of Merit.
